Our services at Sovereign Grace Baptist Church emphasize three basic aspects in our local gatherings: we desire to be Christ-exalting for we aim to be Bible believing and Gospel proclaiming.
Moreover, we desire to see the Biblical, first century characteristics in our services when we worship as a local church. Our services are characterized by those practices listed in Acts 2:42,
“And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.”
These four characteristics are defined by the scripture as (1) being faithful to the Word of God, and the gospel of Jesus Christ in particular (stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine); (2) being faithful in fellowship (stedfastly in… fellowship), and more specifically in loving one another as Jesus Christ commanded us (John 13:34-35; 1 John 4:7-8); (3) being faithful proclaiming the gospel as a congregation (stedfastly in… breaking of bread) by preaching Christ’s death till He come (1 Corinthians 11:26); and being faithful in communion with God in prayer (stedfastly in… prayer), and most specifically, in submitting to the heavenly Father’s will in all things for the advance of God’s Kingdom in the exaltation of Christ unto God’s glory alone.
Currently, our services regularly meet four times per week. We gather three times on Sunday, for Sunday school, Sunday morning worship, and Sunday evening worship. We also gather in the middle of the week, on Wednesday for congregational prayer. Immediately following the prayer meeting, we are encouraged by a devotional meditation from the Word of God.
